What should a product photo include for the best furniture preview?
The whole piece, from base to top, on a plain background, from the front or a slight angle. That covers the most important requirements: completeness, background, and angle.
Completeness matters because a cropped product photo, one where a leg or armrest is cut off at the edge, forces the placement to guess at the missing portion. The guess is often plausible but a complete shot is always better. The background matters because a plain background makes the product outline clear. The angle matters because a front-facing shot gives the most useful spatial information for placing the piece in a room.
One common mistake is using a lifestyle image from the secondary gallery, a photo where the sofa is styled in a room setting, or a close-up of the fabric texture, or a top-down overview of a dining set. These look great for browsing but are not the right input for a room preview. Use the clean main product image: the one that shows the piece alone, in full, from the front.
Retailer main images are usually exactly right. No preparation needed before uploading. Try it free on your own photo.
